Designed by Mark Browning Landscape Design in 2010, constructed in 2011 by Kiama Landscapes.
Located in the Brighton East, the owners of this brand new house engaged Mark Browning Landscape Design to design their entire landscape including a pool in the rear garden. With its contemporary lines and feel the house required a garden to settle it into the site.
We selected materials to complement the industrial style of the house, these included exposed and honed concrete finishes for the drive and service yards, large module grey granite slabs for front path and porch and pool surround. Wide format decking was used in the rear yard to "warm up" the space and corten steel screens were incorporated for both decorative and screening purposes.
Our clients expressed a desire to have a front fence that allowed light yet also offered privacy to the front garden and the master bedroom suite facing the front garden. We designed a fence made up of galvanised steel "fins" with tight openings between. The result is a filtered vista from the street, and setting the structure back a metre or so from the boundary helps prevent up close vision through the spacings.
